Madrid. MANUEL RUBIO Was born in Mexico City into a family of musicians. As a soloist, he manages a wide repertoire that ranges from Renaissance music of works by contemporary Mexican composers. His interest in chamber music feature works with voice, flute, violin, and guitar duets, as well as repertoire for guitar and orchestra. He is graduated from the “Estudio de Arte Guitarrístico” and The Boston Conservatory of Music, where he received top honors. He has been the beneficiary of more than 23 awards from recognized national and foreign cultural institutions. He has several professional recordings on the main digital platforms. He published in Editions Orphée the Classical Concerto for guitar and orchestra by the Mexican composer Rafael Adame, the first concerto composed in the 20th century for that instrument. He founded the first Music School at “La Salle in Cuernavaca” and taught guitar at “Conservatorio de Música del Estado de México”, & the “Universidad Autónoma de Yucatán”. He has been a member of the jury in the most important national and international guitar competitions. Since 1989 he has been traveling playing concert tours in Europe, North America, Mexico, South America and Asia and since 2004 is Professor of the "Escuela Superior de Artes de Yucatán", Music, Member of the Faculty. In 2019 he became a member as an active performer for the “Fondo Nacional para la Cultura y las Artes”, Mexico. In 2021 he received the support of Ibermúsicas to participate in international musical events presenting the "Concierto Clásico" by Mexican composer Rafael Adame. ESPAÑOL: MANUEL RUBIO nació en la ciudad de México en el seno de una familia de músicos. Como solista maneja un amplio repertorio que abarca desde la música del Renacimiento hasta obras para guitarra de compositores contemporáneos de los más diversos estilos y géneros. Gran parte de su esfuerzo ha sido dedicado a abordar la música de compositores mexicanos. Su interés por la música de cámara lo ha llevado también a interpretar un variado repertorio con voz, flauta, violín, dúos de guitarra y cuartetos de cuerda así como repertorio para guitarra y orquesta. Su debut internacional fue en el año de 1989 en el Slosberg Music Center en Waltham, Massachusetts y desde entonces se ha ganado una sólida reputación como ejecutante, maestro y director artístico de diversos encuentros culturales como el “Festival Internacional de Guitarra Cuernavaca”, el Festival de la Guitar Foundation of America de los Estados Unidos y el “Festival de Guitarra Clásica de Mérida” de la Universidad Autónoma de Yucatán, contado con la presencia de los más destacados guitarristas nacionales e internacionales. Es egresado del Estudio de Arte Guitarrístico y The Boston Conservatory of Music donde recibió los máximos honores. Por su profesionalismo y compromiso con nuestro país ha sido galardonado con más de 22 premios de reconocidas instituciones culturales nacionales y extranjeras destacando CONACULTA, FONCA, Gobierno del Estado de Morelos, The Boston Conservatory of Music, Fondo Estatal para la Cultura y las Artes de Morelos, Fondo Estatal para la Cultura y las Artes de Yucatán, SEDECULTA, H. Ayuntamiento de Mérida, PECDA y FORCAZS entre otras. Participó en la edición del “Concierto clásico para guitarra y orquesta” del compositor mexicano Rafael Adame de la prestigiosa Editions Orphée siendo el primer concierto compuesto en el siglo XX llevando a cabo su reestreno en México en el año de 1997, fue invitado al Festival Internacional de Guitarra Ciutat de Torrent de Valencia, España para interpretar el estreno europeo de esta obra con la Orquesta Sinfónica de Valencia; por otra parte también ha tocado con la Orquesta Sinfónica de Morelos, Orquesta de Cámara de Morelos, Orquesta de Cámara de Yucatán y la Orquesta Sinfónica de Yucatán. Ha aparecido en programas como People & Arts además de sus presentaciones anuales para la radio y televisión nacional de México, Brasil, España y EEUU. Desde el año 2001 ha sido presidente y miembro de jurado en los concursos de guitarra nacionales e internacionales más importantes, entre los cuales destaca el de la Guitar Foundation of America. Desde el año 2010 ha realizado giras de conciertos en España con gran éxito como solista y dúo de guitarras con alumnos egresados de la ESAY donde realizó más de 100 recitales para los peregrinos del Camino de Santiago de Compostela. Durante su estancia en Norteamérica, Sudamérica, Europa y Asia se ha presentado en los principales festivales de guitarra en los que ha ofrecido clases magistrales y estrenó diversas obras de compositores mexicanos. Sus grabaciones: Música mexicana para guitarra, De pura cepa, Saudade, Combattans, Folías de España y Dúo de guitarras. En el año 2018 ganó por oposición la plaza de profesor de carrera de la Escuela Superior de Artes de Yucatán. Este año 2021 presentó el recital de clausura del III Festival Internacional de Guitarra FIVES y Concurso Mauricio Oliveira en São Paulo, Brasil como solista y miembro del jurado. Recientemente participó en el Cebu International Guitar Music Festival “Kinablit” en la República de Filipinas, siendo invitado a regresar a ese país y participar en diversos festivales de Asia destacando Yilán, Taiwán, Singapur, así como retornar a Europa, Sudamérica y los EEUU. Manuel Rubio toca las guitarras de los lauderos de Abel García de México y del norteamericano Frederick Sheppard y es patrocinado por la firma de cuerdas francesa Savarez. Desde el año 2019 forma parte del Sistema Nacional de Creadores Escénicos del FONCA. REVIEWS: I was fortunate to attend a guitar recital of Manuel Rubio in Germany last summer. His playing was first rate and (he) demonstrated his great talent in many ways. His guitar technique served him to convey a deep knowledge of the repertoire presented, giving a touch of magic in many moments, especially in his interpretation of the Mexican composer, Manuel Ponce. Rubio teaches at La Salle University in Cuernavaca and organized the festival there for several years. The recording was made in Mexico City at a studio call Ars Flventis. So…an exception to the rule that the big names get the best sound. Rubio's playing (on a spruce Humphrey Millennium) is beautiful–some Piazzolla, some old-timey tangos from Matanya Ophee's collection, and the Ponce Variations and Fugue on La Folia. Richard N. Jernigan, 2000 Rubio is a classical guitarist whose multifaceted career has earned him prestigious prominence as his versatility permits him to perform repertoire that extends from the Renaissance to contemporary music. Fernando Mota, Excelsior, Mexico Steve Reich’s Nagoya Guitars, performed by David Tanenbaum and Manuel Rubio, is a transcription of a piece for marimbas by Tanenbaum and Reich. It was delivered with an amiable fluency, so compatible with the gestures of this music. Obviously, both musicians, and their audience, enjoyed themselves. Matanya Ophee, USA Manuel’s playing was magnificent and very inspiring. We could have listened all night, but alas, Rubio had to return to Denver. We are thankful he took the time to come to Cheyenne and hope he will return soon. All in all, the evening was a great success with wonderful atmosphere and beautiful music. Ha realizado 6 giras internacionales México 2018 , Alemania, España 2019, Argentina 2022 , México,2023 , España Alemania 2024 , Colombia 2025 En mayo de 2025 editó su nuevo disco MAGNO SUEÑO, LP con sonidos pop 90' y electrónica , realizó gira de lanzamiento por latinoamérica con shows en vivo , en junio en el mítico CAFÉBERLINDEBUENOSAIRESARGENTINA, en agosto en CITYLAB del GAM SANTIAGOCHILE, en septiembre 9 shows en BOGOTA COLOMBIA MAGNO SUEÑO su segundo disco, de la mano del reconocido productor argentino GUIDO NISENSON, quien ha estado en la consola para leyendas como Charly García, Andrés Calamaro, Spinneta . Lite Ruiz participa activamente en la revolución feminista y de diversidades y disidencias. Siendo LA VOZ OFICIAL NI UNA MENOS 2022 CÓRDOBA ARGENTINA organizada por @asambleanumcba Realizó colaboración con BANDA MAIS BONITA DA CIDADE DE BRASIL en SU SUPER LIVE proyecto adjudicado por IBERMUSICAS y transmitido por MATUCANA 100 CHILE. Su experiencia musical ha sido acompañada de interés por el activismo ambiental y de género, Lite Ruiz representa una nueva visión de fortaleza femenina y que desembocan en su obra artística y vida . It immerses you in a unique universe of sounds full of magic and unflinching emotional honesty inviting with each of his compositions to travel while you close your eyes and let yourself go… His music is characterized by its atmospheric and spatial sound that mixes from analog synthesizers, organic instruments, sound textures and layers, to his own digital treatment process. His music has the ability to be both melancholic and positive, a new place to lift anxieties, overcome madness and encourage meditation and resilience. He has a fascination for our relationship to reality and what we call LIFE, and use that as inspiration for his music.
